Dirty Looks Holiday Bazaar

Los Angeles CA 90029

Dirty Looks presents our second annual queer gift bazaar, in an attempt to keep queer your seasonal spending requirements as mandated by corporate capitalism (“Christmas”). Eight vendors will deck the inner sanctum of Faultline, Silverlake’s famed neon-strewn indoor-outdoor leather bar. A festive photo booth will be designed and animated by Ron Athey and Nao Bustamante to capture that holiday snapshot that the family back home will cherish for years to come. The caroling shenanigans of Glen Meadmore’s Kuntry Band, Dynasty Handbag and Brontez Purnell will resound with joy throughout our ears and our hearts. And Michael Robinson’s Yule Log, especially designed to crackle and pop for this special occasion, will illuminate our Go-go elves, who will Jingle Bell Rock the night away.

Glen Meadmore is a musician and performer whose genre has been best described as "Cowpunk," known for his solo recordings (Boned, Cowboy Songs for Lil Hustlers) as well as his involvement in the band Pedro Muriel and Esther with Vaginal Davis. After an extended correspondence, John Wayne Gacy painted the cover art for his 1998 album Hot, Horny and Born Again. Other, regular collaborators have included Steve Albini, The Goddess Bunny, Psychic TV and RuPaul. He has appeared in a number of experimental films and hosted a cable access television program, in addition to appearing in Bruce La Bruce and Rick Castro’s seminal Hustler White.

Dynasty Handbag is the alterego of performer and musician Jibz Cameron. Handbag has unleashed her insanity via powerpoint presentations, one woman shows and concerts at venues like The New Museum, The Hammer, Joe’s Pub and MoMA PS1. She - or was it her superego, Jibz? - has released 2 albums of original music. They also produce and host Weirdo Night!, a monthly comedy and performance event in Los Angeles.

Brontez Purnell has been publishing, performing, and curating in the Bay Area for over ten years. He is author of the cult zine Fag School, frontman for his band "The Younger Lovers," and founder and choreographer of the Brontez Purnell Dance Company. His first novel, Since I Laid My Burden Down was published in 2017 by Feminist Press, alongside a reprinting of his first novella, Johnny Would You Love Me (if My Dick Were Bigger), originally released by Rudos and Rubes.

Australian-born vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Sam Sparro shot to fame in the United Kingdom with the release of his 2008 debut single, "Black and Gold." His style of music is derived from contemporary R&B, particularly his gospel-trained vocals, and often harks back to the '80s, but it's a thoroughly modern style, driven by state-of-the-art electronic dance production. Sparro recently released Christmas in Blue, a holiday EP and is currently at work on a new album.
